Well Cheers to the next big adventure… maybe the biggest adventure of my life!

An American in Israel

About 5 years ago I went to The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta and volunteered my time to the Young Adult Chapter. I loved getting more involved in my ‘new’ city. After living in Los Angeles for 6 years, I was ready to get back to my roots as a proud Southerner- more Jewish events and schmoozing. I went to Israel for the first time at 18 years old and never had a chance to return. My family always shared about our faith and culture with others- but we had no ties to the State of Israel. The only way I knew how to return to Israel was where I began the adventure with Birthright Israel

Sababa

Israel has this ‘vibe’. It stimulates your mind and heart to crave it more. Want to get involved? Reach out to your local Jewish Federation or research Birthright Israel Institute- an amazing leadership program prior to applying to lead with Birthright Taglit.

My first time leading a tour for Shorashim (one of the trip organizers) was in December 2016. Even with the rainy winter days- I was hooked to go back! I have since volunteered my time for 3 more trips! I love sharing my excitement for Israel and of course, being Jewish. The trip is about making a connection to the State of Israel. We discuss our ‘Jewish Identity’ and how to find your own Jewish path. There is NO right way to be a strong Jewish adult and the more we find our own fit the more we will feel comfortable to share our culture and beliefs.

Leaving to make ALIYAH in less than a WEEK!

Jump to 4 years later… after building my passion for the state of Israel and sharing my story with Birthright Israel Foundation it’s my time to take lead. I met my very handsome fiancé October last year after extending my trip in Israel. If you have not checked out our magical story you can find it here… on my BLOG :) Not only did I find a love for Israel BUT I found my LOVE in Israel. Yes it was love at first DM (direct message). No we didn’t swipe for this love- but we did work hard on it! If you follow me on Instagram you have seen our relationship unfold and know how hard we worked during our long distance relationship.

And now for the GRAND event

Wow! Life can really change fast! One year ago I met my handsome fella, Dani, on Instagram and now I’m officially making Aliyah to Israel on Monday! ‘Making Aliyah’ means immigrating to Israel. But the true definition of ‘Aliyah’ means to ascend. So here’s looking up and beyond to an amazing wedding planning season!

Loving Israel from afar and learning how to LIVE in Israel has been an adjustment. The food is amazing, the people always entertaining, and the traffic a little wild. BUT creating a world there is still a work in progress!

Want to learn more?

I have had an amazing support team through this ‘aliyah process’. Besides my family, Dani’s family, my friends… (and every other Olim in Israel!) I have had the opportunity to work with Nefesh Benefesh. Founded in 2002, Nefesh Benefesh helps
facilitate the integration of new Olim (immigrants) into Israeli society. They are dedicated to helping navigate the government, financial needs, and other stressors that come with a BIG move. They host events in each city for a variety of needs. Need help finding a job? Want to connect with other young Olim? Can’t understand the free healthcare system? They have you covered! They even host a Thanksgiving Day Feast for those missing a little bit of home. I am lucky to have their guidance these last few weeks and even up to the day of my arrival! Want to follow along? You can catch me Monday December 2nd on their Instagram! I’ll be sharing my story, adventures, and funny airport adventures!
